Mit großer Freude las ich vor kurzem in www.nacion.com, daß ein neuer Bereich für Seeschildkröteschutz in der pazifischen Nordprovinz von Guancaste, Costa-Rica gegründet wurde. Letzte Woche ernannte die Costa Rica Regierung das Caletas-Ario Wildnis-Schutzgebiet, der den Bereich bei Playa Caletas einschließt. Mit dieser neuen Hinzufügung zum bereits vorhandenen Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas bei Playa Grande haben die fast ausgestorbene Baulas (spanischer Name für Lederschildkröten) eine bessere Überlebensschanze. In diesem neuen Bereich, der 313 Hektars Land und 19.846 Hektar Küstengewässer deckt, schätzt man daß eine Kolonie von 12 Baulas jedes Jahr zwischen 20 und 40 Nester, jedes mit herum 60 Eiern legen. Aber nicht nur Lederschildkröten werden hier gefunden. Echte Karretsschildkröten und Suppenschildkröten gehören zu anderen Sorten, die hier jedes Jahr zum gleichen Strand zurückkommen an dem Sie geschlüpft sind.

En los últimos años Costa Rica ha generado un gran interés en las cadenas extranjeras de hoteles debido a la gran diversidad de flora y fauna que posee y además se debe incluir las hermosas playas que son buscadas por los turistas para el descanso y la aventura en actividades como el surf o el buceo.

Un ejemplo de estas grandes compañías es la cadena estadounidense Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, dicha cadena posee alrededor de 850 propiedades en más de 95 países, entre ellos hay tres latinoamericanos incluyendo a Costa Rica.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide está por realizar un millonario proyecto turístico que se ubicará en el Pacifico Central, específicamente en Playa Coyol, este proyecto cubrirá 100 hectáreas entre ellas están la bahía que está cerca del Hotel Marriott Los Sueños, en Garabito y también estará próximo a la Reserva Natural Aramacao.

El proyecto tendrá por nombre St Regis Resort Costa Rica y constará de 133 habitaciones de lujo, 49 condominios de una a tres habitaciones, 42 villas privadas y 9 residencias, además incluirá varias piscinas y restaurantes, un área aproximada a 1000 metros cuadrados destinado para el Spa y también un lugar de convenciones.

Costa Rica es un país con muchas opciones de turismo, en los últimos años muchas compañías extranjeras se han interesado en invertir en actividades turísticas por la variedad que posee y esto trae consigo grandes beneficios para Costa Rica puesto que ofrece empleos para miles de familias además le proporciona grandes ingresos a la economía nacional.

With great pleasure I read today in www.nacion.com that a new area for Sea Turtle protection was created in the north pacific province of Guancaste, Costa Rica.
Last week the Costa Rican government created Caletas-Ario Wildlife Refuge which includes the nesting area of the Leatherback Sea turtles at Playa Caletas. With this new addition to the already existing Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas at Playa Grande the almost extinct Baulas (Spanish name for Leatherbacks) have a better chance of surviving.
In this new area which covers 313 hectares of land and 19.846 hectares of coastal waters it is estimated that a colony of 12 Baulas lay between 20 and 40 nests each year, each with around 60 eggs.
But no only Leatherbacks are found here. Hawksbill and Green Sea Turtles are among other species that come back each year to the same beach they hatched on.
