Turism and competition increase flights to Costa Rica

Costa Rica increased 508 flights per month compared to 2006, wich represents a growth of 37%. The new arrival of new airlines and more options has more planes flying.
Every month 1888 international flights land in Costa Rica that is 472 per week. The first semester of this year three new airlines started operation. In april Spirit Air, in may the english First Choice Airways started direct flights from London to Liberia and the spanish Air Comet comenced this month with flights to Madrid. The last two operate as charter flights for now.
Frontier Airlines has anounced it will operate 4 weekly flight to and from Denver, Usa in the near future.
The Daniel Oduber International Aiport of Liberia receives 10.7% of all flights, Juan Santamaria Intl. Airport receives 89.2% while the Tobias Bolaños Intl. Airport (located in Pavas for general aviation) deal with 0.1%.
